NERC CIP training program entails a coordination of all the NERC’s efforts in order to improve North American Power system’s security. Such efforts include standards of development, enforcement of compliance, assessment of the degree of preparedness and risks. It also entails the dissemination of information that regards essential security areas.
Under the NERC CIP training program, the covered entities are expected to identify and locate the critical assets. That is not all, there is need to perform a risk analysis of such assets. The training is supposed to cover the policies and procedures that are developed. At the end of the training, the following skills will have been acquired:
1. Proper handling and usage of cyber assets. (Critical cyber assets)
2. Physical and electronic access controls to the assets
3. Proper handling of cyber information. This is meant to secure the information.
4. Action programs and plans that will aid in recovering or re-establishing the cyber assets and access.
