The critical infrastructure protection was formed to assist North America electric reliability cooperation formerly known as NERC. The committee consists of the technical expert and the NERC appointed regional representatives. The NERC security initiative is coordinated by the CIPC coordinators. These are the standing committees in the area of cyber and physical security. The main job of the cicp includes:
Development of periodical revising and reviewing of security guidelines.
Conducting work shops and forums which are related to the scope of CIPC.
Maintenance and establishment of information reporting procedure for CIP among the industry.
Conducting forums and workshops related to the CIPC related scope.
The activities of CIPC
CIPC plays a significant role in the development standards. With NERC operating and planning committees, the CIPC works closely by submission of standards authorization requests. In addition, CIPC participate in the sharing of knowledge and the implementation certification.
